Is there really a such thing as satan worshippers?

If so, what are the beliefs other than the satan worshipping part and if there are satan worshipping café-moms is Satan considered evil to you all? If so, why do you choose to worship Satan?

  • There are two types of satanism. One is atheistic, it recognizes that the concept of a biblical Satan was simply an amalgam of all the behaviors that made people difficult for the church to control, so they were all rolled into some evil boogeyman to scare people into obedience. The others are simply Christians who view the characters in the story differently, finding Satan to be more sympathetic than evil.

Your problem is thinking everyone accepts the same things on face value that you do.

  • I think its entirely possible for people to worship many different things, and yes Ive known people who say they worship satan. However their understanding of who satan is and mine were so vastly different, Im not sure what they were actually worshipping....

  • 2 types, Theistic and not.
Traditional Satanists are Atheistic ( and often anti-theist) and "Satan" is merely a symbol they use because it is a representation of everything opposite of Christianity which is seen in their "beliefs" as being hypocritical, judgemental, and controlling. Satan is in essence a symbol of individualism.

Theistic satanists are Satanists that do believe in "Satan" but not as he is known to Christians. Rather in their belief teh Christian "God" and Satan were as the Christian god being an enslaver of mankind and Satan as being a liberator or man kind to free them from the shackles placed upon them by the Christian God. Satanists in this degree are gnostic in nature, meaning there is an emphasis on knowledge. particularly the knowledge that the Christian god would not have mankind know in order to keep them enslaved.

  • In either case it is not the "animal sacrificing, devil worshipping, blood drinking" bullshit that hollywood protrays it as and people readily lap up to confirm their own biases spoon-fed to them by their religious institutions, or that rebellious teenagers with anger issues try to engage in and base off of what they see in the movies in order to shock their parents.

  • One little tid-bit I'll share is the most important rule of Satanism is to protect children at all costs. That doesn't sound so evil, does it?

Better than a lot of churches have done...

  • I am very open-minded when it comes to other people's beliefs

If that were the case, you wouldn't begin with the insistence that a character specific to Christianity, one which most people (including atheistic satanists) consider to be fictional, is universally accepted as true evil. Pedophiles, rapists - those are generally accepted by most people as pure evil. Satan has a much more narrow scope.

Yup, they are also forbidden from harming women, children or animals (or themselves as it is seen as incredibly stupid and stupidity is a "sin" if you will, in their beliefs.). Any practices they engage in (sex, orgies, whathave you, let's face it they don't shy away from indulgences, must be completely consensual and not harmful).

Probably going to depend on whether it confirms her bias or not.

  • You may want to educate yourself just a bit on Jews and afterlife.
They don't believe in it. There is no Hell and therefore no Satan.
Satan isn't even in the Torah.
