Science project for kindergartener?

We have to come up with a science project for my Son's science fair project. All ideas would be appreciated. I am at a loss for ideas. He likes bugs, animals & plants. Thanks!

  • How about a bug collection, or maybe an ant farm or life cycle of butterflies? Something he could watch, draw pictures, and is easy for him to explain in a show and tell type way?

  • There is the famed plant project where one is watered with tap and one is watered with microwaved water (cooled of course), and the plant watered with micro'd water gets sick and dies. I think explaining that might be a tad beyond a Kindergartner.

How about two plants, one just watered and one watered with water and plant food and explain how good nutrients makes a healthier plant.

  • Two african violets, feed one water the other soda pop - see which one lives longer - this way you can show your child that soda is really not good for them in the end :)

  • I was going to suggest baking soda / vinegar in a bottle, put balloon around opening of bottle (think 2 liter soda bottle) to blow up balloon with gases that result from combining the two.

  • How about a butterfly chart? He could either draw or post pictures of how a pupa becomes a butterfly, or how a egg turns into a chikcen.

  • My daughter did a plant thing. A poster of what a plant needs, water & sun. One plant had sun & water. One plant was placed in a dark closet. She took photos once a week. These were placed on the poster. She got an A.
