Adding a point to the thermometer?

I have a Vick's thermometer-the kind you put in the armpit, no frills. I can't remember if I'm supposed to add a point to the reading. so if it's 99.6 is it 99.7 or 100.6? Sorry, stupid question.

  • Yup you add a degree when you take the temp under the arm.

  • My understanding is and the ped has never corrected me (lol)- add a degree under the arm and take away a degree rectally.
