House Republicans Unveil Debt Ceiling Deal: "No Budget, No Pay"

In a nutshell:

Boehner and House Republicans will introduce a bill next week raising the debt ceiling for approximately three months. In exchange for a long-term increase, the Senate must pass a budget. If the Senate does not pass a budget during that time period, the House will block members of both houses from receiving a salary.

Do you think this strategy will be effective?  Will the Republicans be able to get the Senate to pass a budget after 4 years?

  • Uh huh, yeah, it's still all Bush's fault. Your story, sweetie, you tell it however you want.

You like to bash everyone who does not agree with your narrow point of view. You cannot change facts. Clinton handed Bush a balanced budget and 4% unemployment.

  • He says nothing about not sending out social security, etc. He states that THEY won't be paid. Personally I don't think either party should get paid since neither side is doing their job. A budget should be pretty standard for any business which the government is a business. Without a budget most businesses would close up pretty quick which is where we are headed.

I don't think it will actually make much of a difference to most of them as they are rich and the majority really don't need the paycheck to survive.

  • I thought that the Dems had control of the house during part of Bush's years?

    They did, from 2006 on.

  • I am sick to death of these f****** republicans who gave BUSH unlimited spending and credit but are hell bent on making us suffer so they can make a f****** point.

Are you serious? You can't be.....In Obama's first term we went from 6 trillion in debt to 16 trillion in debt.........that is more debt than the other presidents combined.

He also handed him Fannie and Freddy...... And you seem to forgotten Clinton had no 9/11....and it could have been avoided if the intel had been acted upon during his watch.

  • I think it is a starting place. It should be against the law for them to operate without a budget and it should be law the budget be balanced.

No, I point out when people don't know wtf they're talking about. Bush hasn't been in office for 4 years. What he had or didn't have is irrelevant to whether or not the person who currently has the job is doing it. You're like that kid who whines that it's not fair that Suzy's mom is rich and can buy all her fundraiser stuff so she wins a prize and yours can't. What Suzy's mom can or cannot do is irrelevant to whether or not you get off your ass and do something yourself. Obama needs to sell his own candy bars.
