I recently did a home Pregnancy test (2 actually on separate days) and they were positive. I went for my 1st visit to the ob/gyn for what they call a "Pregnancy Confirmation" visit. They established I was very early in the pregnancy (approx. 3 weeks) they also did the blood testing and gave me a confirmation letter with a due date of September 30th. I am super happy BUUUUUUT they mentioned I would need to repeat the testing when I come back on February 7th for my 1st ultrasound.
WHY do I need to repeat? At 1st I didn't think about it, but now it's bothering me. Pregnancy doesn't just disappear. Why would I need to re-confirm the pregnancy. This would be my 2nd child and I've had no issues in the past.
Maybe your Insurance Company won't authorize an ultrasound without a Pregnancy Confirmation at a certain week in the gestation.

I think it's pretty standard now. So they can check your hormone levels & such. Congrats! :)
