Fully Cooked Turkey Legs...Picture up!

Bought some fully cooked turkey legs from walmart. Same kind I always buy.

It's been in the fridge since I bought it.

I open the package and there is ALOT of blood near the bone. I mean it just spilled out.

Safe to use or return it?

I've never seen this much blood come out of the package.

I just assume that for something FULLY cooked, it shouldn't bleed like this.

I'll try to take a pic and put it up

  • Eeeww! I'd return it. A fully cooked turkey leg shouldn't bleed at all. It's not safe to eat poultry that still has any pink juices after cooking.

  • Fully cooked, to me, means the blood should all be cooked away. I would return it. I wouldn't risk it - unless you're going to cook it long enough to be sure that it's fully cooked for real this time. But I don't know that I'd even risk that much.

  • I buy fully cooked to save time on cooking a particular meal. Now i'm wasting time on running back to the store to try again.
