Awwwww!! Big icky red sore in 2 month olds leg crease.

Gave her a bath 2 days ago, she was shivering so I got her dressed pronto. Guess I didn't dry one leg crease very well because today it looks awful, all red and raw.

What should i put on it? :(

  • I would use A&D.

  • diaper cream?
Is it an open wound or just raw?

  • If it's just raw you can put a little diaper cream and some powder, or corn starch powder.

  • some people would recommend putting a little breast milk on it

Google "breastmilk and diaper rash", because that's pretty much what it is

  • You should try putting A&D. But if it gets worse I might contact a pediatrician. He might eczema (super dry skin, that becomes itchy, red, patchy, and even raw), most babies get diagnosed with it this early.

  • i would go as far to say open wound. it's pretty brutal.

my first thought was breastmilk, but i don't know if i want to get it wet like that.

  • Open wound would mean the outer ayer of dermis has been punctured or torn enough to result in blood so I'd say go to the doctor in that case.
If it's just the top most layer (maybe some peeling but red and raw) you can do the ointment.

  • Until I had learned about the yogurt thing for yeast infection in the diaper area I would have thought, no way in hell.
    But now...
You could try it for one diaper change and then if you don't like the results put the ointment on it.?

Also dusting her with cornstarch is a good preventative.

  • Maybe it's just really raw then. There's not blood yet. Honestly- she doesn't have medical insurance yet. I need to apply for it. I thought it would be automatic because I was on pregnancy medical through the state but they never sent me anything for her.
