  • Sit-ups tone the muscles under the fat but they don't really get rid of the fat.

  • Cardio is the only way to get rid of excess fat/weight. Besides what you're doing already, include cardio into your exercise routine. GL

  • My DH tells me that running helps burn the belly fat and like pp said sit-ups and crunches only tone the muscles underneath.

  • if you do situps it will look like you've lost belly fat, but in actuality you've gained ab muscles that are able to hold the belly fat in. so your jeans will fit better, but you wont lose any weight.

  • Only to the extent that it's exercise. Moving the muscles under the fat doesn't do anything in particular to the fat.

  • Nope, add situps in anytime you want to. Make sure you get in cardio exercises as well.
