How do I teach my 3-year-old to stick up for himself?

My son just lets other kids walk all over him. I don't want to teach him to be mean or to hit, but I want him to be able to stick up for himself. How and what should I teach him?

  • At that age you don't, that's his natural personality, as he gets older you can steer him away from it and eexplain it to him.

  • He's THREE. You don't expect him to stand up for himself at this age. He's still practically a baby. You need to step up and control the situation better.

  • That would be assuming. I never said I don't control or intervene. In fact, I intervene every single time that I can.
