What could happen?

Girl decides to place child for adoption, all the paperwork is signed both parties (birth father too)
Life goes on then all of the sudden it comes out that birth father did not sign the papers, his mother signed his name. Now the child adopted is an adult so the adoption cant be overturned.

Real scenario, not that any of the parties would actually tell anyone that mattered as far as courts etc. But if this got out, what could happen?

  • The birth father would be angry at his mother for signing his name? Maybe the birth father and his child could become adult friends?

  • So at least 18 years passed before this information was discovered? If the birth father had wanted to contest anything, he had plenty of time to do that. I doubt that the mother who signed for him can get in any trouble after all these years.
