Wow, wow, wow- i think i am in shock!

just got off phone with the county
my daughter's number finally came up on the autism waiver list
we have final eval with county disabilities lady
then we will have ABA autism therapists in our home

and this am
i dropped her off at kindergarten, the weather was cold- they have the kids come right inside instead of waiting outside, but this morning not directly to their rooms, they changed it up (most likely for security) kids and parents had to wait in the "great hall" (=lunch room), brand new routine, so my daughter was stimming all over the place. on the way home I was thinking back and wondering how many days i go without thinking about autism

might even have a lead therapist in place for her next IEP meeting
i held it off as long as possible in hopes i would have an autism specialist in there with me
at IEP meetings, it was always been me and 6 or so school people. tires of trying to teach them about autism. I might bring a cup of coffee, sit back and let the autism therapist have at them
i will be smiling...oh my God, i am so excited!

i feel so overwhelmed, i might be in a little bit of shock

* placing in 'about cafemom', because powers that be refuse to make a special needs category...;)

  • Congrats!! I hope this all really gets the ball moving on getting her the help she needs. I know what you mean about those IEP meetings (both my girls went through Speech therapy) and its so intimidating and sometimes frustrating to sit through those meetings, at least for the parent I think it is :-/ Thankfully our school has the BOCES (board of cooperative educational services) run the meetings and the lady from there is really nice and tries her hardest to really explain everything thoroughly and get the parent's input, not just telling us what is gonna happen but Asking what we think needs to happen as far as the services is go :)
