Come here!

It's two syllables. It should be easy to understand. The first word tells you what to do; the second word says where. Why is it so hard for little ones to grasp? They hear the words and scatter. Aaaagh!

Just venting.

  • I think in kid-speak "come here" really means "Flee! Run for your life!"

  • In this part of the country, its only one word: mere.
Or if you want them to come for a certain length of time: meraminit.

  • Time out is also 2 words that you might need to teach them if they don't get the Come here.

  • Too funny, Dull! I think it might have been Jeff Foxworthy who did a routine on the way some Southerners tend to combine two words into one--maybe it was someone else, but it was a riot. Bill Cosby did the thing about "Come here-here-here-here-here!" That has taken on much more meaning since I had a little one.

  • Maybe you need to say it in Spanish?

  • Maybe you need to say it in Spanish?

That probably wouldn't help. But I'd be glad to tell you to fuck off in Spanish if it would make you go away.

  • Hey, you're the one who made such a big deal about being Spanish, not me.
