Pregnant - Want to switch hospitals to have my baby! how do i go about that? -----which hospital is better?

Pregnant - Want to switch hospitals to have my baby! how do i go about that? ----- just call the new hospital and they will call the old one?!? i dont know how to go about this correctly?

i love my hospital and my doctors - and im kind of nervous about switching because this new hospital doesnt know me like my doctors that ive had since i was born do - but i have heard so much good things about this other hospital when it comes to birth and and baby care - it seems like everyone i know goes there when they have their kids and love it --- My actual doctor i have now is so busy that i dont ever get to see him i always see his PA - where as this other hospital everyone that i know that goes there gets to see their Doctor with every appointment they make! - my aunt had a skin tag removed and he even came to do that - when i scheduled that a nurse did it i think ---

Has anyone else switch doctors when you had kids? and why? and did you go back or stay with the new doctors?

What would you do in my situtation?

  • First call up the new hospital and see if any of the doctors are accepting new patients.
If YES, Go to old Doctor, request a copy of your medical records. (Thye can't refuse you and it doens't matter why you're requesting). Schedule an appointment with new doctor and take them medical records. You can let them know why you are switching (you feel you will receive more personalized care). Voila! Switch is complete

  • just to clarifiy a little bit --- i have gone to the same hospital my whole life --- so ive never had to switch hospitals before and normally i would ask my mom for advice on this situation - but we dont want to tell our parents till 8 weeks when we hear the heart beat...

  • Oh and they'll request the name of your old doctor and hospital and that's fine too. It just means if anything comes up they know who to contact for a history.

  • i'd go to the hospital that has ER just for kids and a neonatal ic unit. so as later you wouldn't have to be transpotred in case anything unpredicted happens.

  • Why do you want a hospital? And doctors?
Are you dealing with health issues?
Are you also looking for-interviewing alternatives, too?

And I have switched care, yes, for the better!

  • If you want better care (& health and safety) then it's worth looking for other providers!
