  • We are in the beautiful Piney Woods of deep east Texas, near the Louisiana border, and close to Houston. We love it here, beautiful area, not too expensive to live, great schools (our high school football team is one of the top 10 in the country), great people, we are very happy here.

  • Austin & Austin is probably the answer to both.

  • My SIL lived in Austin and it's beautiful.
I couldn't tell you which is most expensive.

  • Depends on what you like. There are very expensive areas in most of the larger cities.

Sugar Land, a suburb southwest of Houston, is pretty nice and they have wonderful schools.

There are a lot of suburbs of the Dallas / Fort Worth area that are nice, some are pretty expensive. Not sure about Austin or San Antonio.

  • What's the nicest place to live in Texas?

    Colorado. *Smile.*

That's what my boyfriend says. He lived near Dallas and hated the hot weather.

  • I'm near Kerrville, in Fredericksburg. I consider it expensive to live here. But the schools are good, small town - if that's what your looking for. Not to far from San Antonio or Austin. 5 hrs from Dallas. 5 hours to the coast.

  • my parents are from the suburbs of Houston and there are many nice places out there. i have friends in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that are in love with it. ive got some family in Kerrville (between Austin & San Antonio) and they love it there. Texas is just one of those states that has lots of types of places to live. what do you like, what do you not like? the closer you are to the big cities the more expensive it will be, and the nicer the area the more expensive.

  • I'd stay away from Sugarland and most parts of Houston.

    Austin is lovely
    Dallas is quite nice also
The Woodlands is Beautiful (and expensive)
    Spring (depending where)
    Tomball (great schools)
Magnolia (pretty country, but good schools as well)

Want great school, a little inexpensive and away from the CITY life.....Lake Jackson.
It's where we used to live and most likely where we'll move back.
