What could be wrong with my Windows Explorer?

I have Windows 7. Recently when I open Windows Explorer, I can get into all of my folders but can't click on the items such as pictures or documents. The program freezes up. I can close it and wait, but if I try to re-enter too soon, I get an error message that says, "Remote call failed to execute." Does anyone know what might be wrong or how to fix it? Thanks.

  • It happens even right after I reboot. My hard drive has a lot of room left on it.
