What does it mean when a child or an adult can not seem to retain stuff?

  • It could mean a great many different things. From ADD to head trauma to one of many learning disabilities, etc. The best course of action would be for you to speak with your doctor.

  • short term memory is better than a long term one. possibly practice exercises could help eg. memorizing facts in the history, life events etc.
