When doing a rectal temperture are you suppose to subtract any?

  • rectal is the most accurate you don't add or subtract anything. it is actually inside and reading what it is, under the arm is out side so you add a degree.

  • Mouth you leave as is.

    Add a degree for underarm.

Take away a degree for rectal.

  • You don't take away a degree rectally if you specifically have a rectal thermometer. Otherwise, follow what anon 10:06 said.
