We're having a Souperbowl Sunday potluck at church, and I'm supposed to take a soup. I have several cans of vegetable soup that were given to me when a friend down-sized her kitchen so she could move into a smaller place. My famly doesn't eat much vegetable soup, so I was thinking I could pour the cans into the crockpot and add some rice, maybe some hamburger. But that seems boring. What else can I do to make the soup better? I'm an okay cook with the basics, but I'm not too adept at the finer points.

I find it really hard to make canned soup taste good. No matter what I do , it still tastes "canned" The veggies are mushy, and it's too salty. So, for what it's worth, here is what I would try. Beside the hamburger and rice, I would try adding garlic, marjoram, parsley, and cabbage.
