Icelandic girl wins right to use her given name

Should we have similar laws here? Would you fight for or against this law?

  • Don't bother with a law. You can't legislate common sense.

  • Not gonna lie ... I would PISSED if our government tried to tell me what I could and could not name our children. It isn't like I have crazy names or anything like that, but damn! The only person who has a right to decide my child's name is myself and my husband.

  • I just read that story. I'm glad and no i do not think we should have similar laws. yes some people give their children the most horrible names but we have more important things to worry about then to go after a parent for what they name their child.

  • We have plenty of laws. We don't need this one. I'm glad she got her name. I've been following the story. Girl is not a very nice name to be forced to have.

  • Of course we don't need a law like that here. The only people who should have a say in the naming of my child are my husband and I.
