I broke my sons heart (not really my fault)

So my DS has been asking for this pirate ship ever since he saw it. I have been looking for it for weeks selling at a decent price. I finally found it about a hour away from me and went and picked it up. The ad said brand new and it was half the cost of it if I were to pick it up locally or online.
Today I decided to put it together. Well after opening it, you can tell its been used. All the small figuring are missing, (about 20 in all) and half of the screws to help put it together are missing. 
He was so excited to get it together and now I have to return it and they don't have anymore in stock.
They have a rule that no returns are allowed but I fought with the manager over the phone, saying I should be allowed to return in since they lied on their ad and my face saying it was new. 
Now he's really sad and I don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions?

  • I know you feel bad. But kids need to learn they can not alway get what they want. Just tell him when and iff you can find one. He will get it.

  • Aww, just give him a great big hug (sure you did that already) & tell him you will do what you can to try to find him another one- a good one! Did you try the manufacturer? Over Christmas time when I couldn't find the Lego set my dau wanted, the wonderful ladies here at CM told me to go to the Lego site & voila- I found it! GL!

  • I did find it ( the big one ) but it was out of stock and $300. lol. Know anyone crafty who could help build one like it?
