cake Frosting

I mix the color i want for the the frosting then i put in the Refrigerators but i toke it out it was hard will i just let stay out until it loses up.
or what i can do to loose it up

  • Is it still in the container? If it is, you can just stir it and it will loosen up. If it's on a cake, you can take it out for a couple of hours and it will loosen up a little bit.

  • You can microwave it lightly until it is soft- say about 15 seconds, stir, 15 seconds, stir. It will probably take a minute or so.

  • If you have the time, set it out for 20 minutes or so, then give it a stir. It should be soft enough to spread after a minute or so of stirring.

  • is this homemade frosting or jarred? If it is jarred, microwave it for 10 seconds at a time, stirring until desired consistency.

    If it is homemade buttercream, leave it sit at room temp for at least 20 minutes.
    Royal frosting you should add a couple of drops of water.
