Did you think that the lights going off at the Superbowl game was planned?

I couldn't help but think...

  • If it was planned, they needed to get the word out to the network better. the announcers were stumbling, trying to think of ways to cover... we saw the same players doing stretches over and over, the same few guys saying "as you can see, a few lights are back on, and we should have full lighting any minute..." etc etc. If it was planned for some economical means to sell commercial space, it sucked. If it was planned to slow down the momentum of the Ravens... well that worked and gave us a ballgame worth watching at the end...

  • Had to sell more commercials

I think that was the definitive proof it wasn't planned - they spent a lot of time showing a dark stadium when they could've been showing more commercials for 20 minutes.

  • Nothing would surprise me. Although that half-time show had plenty of lighting and the like so an electrical overload if hardly a shocker. pardon the pun!

  • i doubt it was planned. 34 mins of listening to the sports anchors bumbling about nothing instead of commercials...not planned.
