How are tax returns really processed.

Once the return is submitted and accepted by the irs, it is there for processing. But how do they process them? there are so many, is it done by computer or do people actually look at the returns?
Anyone really know?

  • your info is entered in by your tax preparer, yourself or an IRS worker, depending on how you file, then it goes through a computer process to make sure everything matches up, as in W-2's etc. everything is connected by your SS #.
