My baby is blissfully asleep.but needs a diaper change.

Would you wake a baby at night and risk being up another couple hours? Or just deal with it when she wakes up?

Slight aroma of a mess and she will definitely soak through by morning.

I am leaning towards just falling asleep. Mother of the year tonight...

  • You're nursing, right? The nurses at the hospital told me not to worry about changing diapers while my baby was asleep as long as she hadn't been given solid foods yet,and especially if she only got breastmilk. They said the poop wasn't so bad for the skin if it was only recycled breastmilk, and to just put a bit of ointment on in the next diaper change. Besides, the baby may wake up before morning anyway, and you can change her then.

I got a great piece of advice from a woman who had her active daughter and sleeping grandson at the pool while I was there as a new mom--*never* wake a sleeping child. Of course, it doesn't apply if there's a fire or some kind of an emergency, or for a teensy tiny newborn who wants to sleep instead of eat, but in most other situations, *never* wake a sleeping child. The words have proven wise!

    Get some sleep, Mama.

  • Personally, I'd change it if it was poo, he'd wake up with a sore bottom if I left it til morning.

  • Let her sleep. She'll wake up soon enough.

  • I let her sleep. Yes it is strictly breastmilk. Nothing wrong with her bottom. She soaked through her jammies but oh well.
