When does a baby stop drinking formula completly?

My son just turned 6 months old and I have been giving him mashed fruits and veggies with a tabelspoon or two of rice cereal ans 2 oz. of rice starch formula. He usualy drinks a bottle of similac formula with no rice starch in it in the mornings and at night but when do they completly quite drinking formula and just eat plain mushed foods?

  • The baby still requires 24-32 oz of formula a day IN ADDITION TO the other food until 1 year old

  • Around a year old. Or when they are eating baby food 3 meals a day. IMO.

  • Doctors recommend no sooner than 1 year. And, then WHOLE milk (not 2% or 1%).

  • You can give cows milk after 1 so that is when you could stop giving formula and switch to cows milk. If you are meaning the bottle all together then I think first ask your pediatrician. I give my 8mo real breakfast and real dinner but he still breastfeeds at lunch and once in the night.
