In between drs and oldest is having focusing problems in school

to start with as of oct last year the kids' dr stopped taking our medical. well in sept i made an appointment for our oldest because the teacher said she was having problems with focusing on any school work. the dr was only half listening to what i was saying (this is the same dr who tried to tell me that my youngest didn't need her tonsils out. three weeks later she had them removed)
i just need some helpful advice until i can get them to a real dr. which i have a couple of numbers and am going to try them tomorrow.
sorry it's not much of a question, more of a plea. the teacher and us have been trying to brainstorming trying to figure out how to help her.
please any advice you have will be very much appreciated.

  • Have you had her eyes checked? # 1 reason kids begin to "lack focus" in school is an indicator they may need glasses. In any case teh local hospital should have a Walk-In clinic available where you can go and have her seen

  • she's already got glasses, and she's in the 5th grade. so far the walk-ins aren't taking any new patients.

  • Ask your school for possible resources. The school nurse and the school psychologist may become your new best friends.
