Would you have wanted to wear your mother's wedding dress, or did you?

I have no idea what my mother's wedding dress looked like when she married my father. I've never seen a wedding picture of them. My mother's second dress was fugly. Periwinkle blue with long sleeves, 80s style.
Did anyone 's mother have a pretty wedding dress?
Would you have wanted to wear it if you could?
Or did you wear your mother's dress?

  • No, it was ugly - and she was probably only a size 6, if that, where I was about a size 12 on my wedding day.

  • I wore my mother-in-law's wedding dress. My parents are divorced, so my mom didn't even have her wedding dress anymore. My in-laws got married in 1980 and her wedding dress was really classic, so I just had the sleeves taken off and it was perfect. Saved a bunch of money! And it was really cool to have that connection in our wedding.

  • I didn't wear my moms dress but I did wear my Step-father's moms dress from the late 40's early 50's.

  • I wouldn't have been offered my mother's wedding dress, nor would I have accepted it. The two of us never got along. I picked out a simple white lace dress from the clearance rack when all of the proms were over and the dresses were dirt cheap.

  • I wanted to wear my moms but it had water damage when we got it out of the so called special protection bag that didnt work so I wore my aunts. they both had the most wonderful antque looking dresses. It was an honor to wear it.

  • OH and that was 23 years ago, since then my aunt has let pcs of her dress be made into hair pcs for the girls in the family. So awesome.

  • My daughter is engaged. I have had thoughts about her  wearing my dress, but it's not her style. She wouldn't like it, and I wouldn't ever ask her to wear something she's not thrilled to wear.
