Babies pick their parents?

Uh, right. And no, I've never thought that before. I don't believe it now.

I don't know about "picking". I'm a spiritual agnostic/atheist. In the sense that I believe reincarnation may exist. The best belief with that, I've read, is that we tend to travel in soul groups (like families), reincarnating around the same time so, we can live with or see one another again in the next life. So, basically we just pick parents that will guarantee us that. However, that could just all be BS. I mean, I wish I had a better mother. However, I can see how some people were essential in my life. But, maybe everything is random, and like all other forms of religion, it's just something we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better & to try to make sense of the randomness.

Cute idea, but not true. If it were, drug addicts, alcoholics, abusers, etc. would be sterile.

Yeah, me too, PMS. My aunt believes this, but I've told her I must have been high or something if I picked mine.
