My kids love to play house, DD is mom and DS is dad.

Me: What?

DS: Not you!

DD: yes dad?

DD and DS play for a little bit

Me: Saying nothing, I assume he isn't really calling me

DS MOM!!!!!!!!!!!

Me: what?

DS: tells me what he wants

It drives me nuts me nuts when they play house lol. I never know when they want me and then they freak when I respond and they don't want me and then they freak when I don't respond because i figure they are still playing house.

  • The games of the week have been soccer, at least till I took the ball away because I'd said one too many times not to kick it in the house; acting out Peppa Pig or Max and Ruby episodes from TV; and taking stuffed animals and dolls to the doctor. I'm usually the receptionist, so I sign in the patients and send them to see the pediatrician.

  • They don't play it anymore, but when my boys were younger, around 9 and 6, they used to play road trip. My oldest would be the dad, and he was always leaving his little brother at gas stations, Walmarts, McDonalds', you name it. So frequently during the game the younger DS would be pretend running yelling Daddddddyyyyy you forgot me!!!!!!!!!!

What made it so hard to listen to was that their dad died a few years before this. It really creeped me out that first time.

Now I just worry about the safety of my future grandchildren.
