How do you seal leaky windows?

I am cold. A draft comes from the window in my room. I have curtains up.

  • Depends where exactly the leak is - caulk, silicone, heavy plastic covering the entire thing for winter.

  • Caulk or some kind of sealant.

  • Weatherstripping if it's a gap that will prevent it opening if you seal it with caulk.

  • Would caulk prevent the window from opening though?

  • Well caulking any gaps helps and be sure to look under the window ledge for gaps. They also have kits to seal your window with plastic for the winter as well and they are fairly easy to use.
Some of it depends on the panes of glass and their thickness. Sometimes it is the seals and that may take a professional.
