Cheapest Airfare rates? Any travel agents/planners out there with info?

I thought it was Tuesdays with the cheapest airfare rates but now I'm not so sure. ...The rates were cheaper last week but I can't remember if it was Tuesday or Wednesday. They're considerably more this week, which sucks, but I couldn't act on the prices I saw last week. Ugh.

Any advice or knowledge regarding this?

Thanks.

  • southwest is pretty cheap. Flying out midweek is the cheapest and ordering the tickets several weeks in advance as well.

  • Try Tues/Wed, 21 day advanced purchase with Saturday night stay, unless there is a war.
Air is just bad now. No real cheap fares to Europe. I'm sending people for 1700 per person to Europe and that is with a stop at JFK. Horrid. Taxes are sometimes half of the ticket depending on where you want to go.

  • I don't think I mentioned Europe. I'm doing cross country from San Diego to Richmond.

  • My point with Europe is that domestic and international fares are pricey these days. I have the American Airlines Rez system on my pc. what are your dates and I'll tell you what the airlines have.

  • Well, I've been jumping all over sites like travelocity, cheaptickets, expedia, etc. but doesn't hurt to get extra info:

    April 30, SAN to RIC

    May 14, IAD to SAN

    1 adult, 1 minor

Last week there was a Red Eye for under $300. Should have taken it while I had the chance. Just over $300 wouldn't be bad either.

  • I'll look, but I can't see Southwest. It's the only one I can't price. There aren't child fares usually. You driving yourself to to IAD?

  • lowest I see is 338 with stops in Charlotte booked in "K" class. One way is 161. If you can fly in/out of the same spot it might drop the price. But as you know, this can change every day as the classes sell out.

  • I looked again and there is plenty of inventory so they've raised the price. Just keep an eye out for the next 2 weeks. You have time.

  • Raised it? Bah to them. What are the chances they'll drop tomorrow? Grr.
