What pet birds aren’t from the parrot family?

I have a DCFS Licensed Preschool in my home so needless to say I follow the rules and regulations of DCFS. I and looking to buy a bird however I’m not allow to have birds from the parrot family. What pet birds aren't from the parrot family?

  • All hookbills are parrots, so you cannot have parakeets, conures, Amazons, African greys, cockatoos, cockatiels, Quakers--in short, most of the pet birds sold in stores are off limits.

    Finches aren't parrots. Canaries are also okay, and they're beautiful singers if you get the males. I believe mynahs are also okay, but they can be hard to find now. Good luck.
