Am I that funny looking or what?

My 8 year old DD was a 24 week preemie (1lb 7oz) and she was breastfed. She has an older sister also. I noticed that she stares a hole in me. No matter what I'm doing or where I am, she is watching me like a hawk. When she was a baby, it wasn't that noticeable. My mother told me that she would eventually grow out of it. Well, she is 8 now and it's getting kinda creepy...lol. Last year I finally got her out of my bed but she would stare at me til she fell asleep. Is that normal?

  • I have never heard of this. Have you mentioned it to her ped?

  • But_Mommie...I haven't mentioned to her pediatrician because I was thinking it was more like behavioral health. I was hoping that she would grow out of it.

  • I haven't heard of this issue but I'd talk to the doctor?

  • No seizures. It's the same stare she would give when I was breastfeeding her. If I catch her staring she will smile at me and keep looking.

  • Your ped would need to rule out medical and be able to refer you to who you would need to see to get further answers. This could be behavioral... or medical... or neurological... but her ped would be where I would start to get it narrowed down.

  • I will talk to her doctor on her next appointment. I can only hope that it's something minor.

  • I don't have any advice, sorry, but I do agree that it's a bit creepy.

  • It could be seizers. Not all seizures make you convulse. There some where you just stare. You definetly need to talk to her doctor about it.

  • That's very true- that is how some epileptic children have seizures.
