Plate Painting

This is something I have never done. It is a project for a women's retreat.

1) Do we need to buy a "crystal" glass plate?

2)Do we need to do anything other than letting the paint dry to preserve it?

3)Any other ideas/suggestions/tips??

This is for decoration only.

Thanks in advance)

  • Are you asking because you want to teach it or you will be doing it?

  • I will be the person in charge. The women have a choice of free time or craft, this is the craft the coordinators chose. We need to buy materials though, thus the questions and I have never done this craft.

  • Teaching a craft you have never done is usually a bomb. I am sorry but it is true.......
Have the coordinators done this? If so it would be a good idea to get together and do this at least once.

If you are going to go in cold this is what I would do:
Get white ceramic type plates. alcohol and paper towels, permanent markers.

Clean the surface of the plate with a little alcohol on a clean cloth or towel.
Decide what you will draw and draw on the plate. Better to sketch it out first on paper.
Allow to dry for a few minutes and pop into a 350 degree oven for one hour to set.

These are NOT for eating, decoration only.
