Honestly, one of the striking things about 3 year olds in my experience is their ability to retain information & their amazing capacity for remembering a LOT! I think it comes naturally for children of this age to easily remember anything that captures their interest/attention, fires their imagination or inspires love or excitement/enthusiasm in them. I mean, this seems to be their nature,
Does the child seem unable to remember details from your day or from the stories you read together, so you're worried about memory/comprehension specifically, or is it more about wanting him/her to learn certain information & finding that it is a struggle?Maybe take a look at the information you're hoping your 3 year old will retain, and see if it's important at all to your child. Does he/she see the point, or understand the information? Is it abstract, not directly linked to meaning/purpose? It may feel like a chore to the child.
