My husband plays electric guitar very loudly. He get mad if I try to remove myself from the room or if I say it's too loud. It was so loud tonight that while I was giving our son a bath, we could not hear each other speaking. We live in a small apt. even if I wanted to get completely away from it, it would be impossible. He says I am just old. Should I just shut up & deal with it?

  • He says the music sounds different in a headset. The neighbors have not complained yet. The buildings a built pretty good, but I'd be suprised if they couldn't hear it.

  • Be glad you're not my neighbor. Ask the dickhead down the street who USED TO have a barking dog what happens when you piss off your neighbors.

  • If it sounds loud to you it's probably at an unsafe level for baby. If he cares about his sons hearing he will turn it down and practice when you and baby are out of the house.

  • I live with 2 drummers. Deal with it.
Don't ever tell a musician to choose. Cause You won't be the one he picks!

  • Get him to understand that you have a right to peace in your apartment just as much as he has a right to play music loudly.
My DH's hobby is DJ-ing techno music. It can get loud, and he hates to play exclusively into his headphones, but we have kids and limits. Anything later than 6pm on a school night is head phones only. That's it.(We also have a house so he's on one floor and the rest of us can choose to be on the other.) I would be even stricter if I couldn't retreat from it.

If that doesn't work, super glue his head phone jack into the guitar!
