  • You may simply just not have ovulated in this cycle. It happens to most women at least once in their lives. It's happened to me 3 times.

  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

  • Maybe an infection? Or, as others have suggested, you may not have ovulated.

  • are you on birth control? That can cause missed periods too

Answer by daylily888 at 11:29 AM on Mar. 6, 2013

  • PCOS has nothing to do with actual cysts as in a growth. The cysts in this case is often more than one egg cyst being released at irregular intervals with none maturing enough to become an egg. On an ultrasound it looks like a string of pearls.

You can have PCOS and have regular or irregular periods.

If it turns out that you are not pregnant it could be a hormonal imbalance, PCOS or just about anything. Ask when they call with the results. You could also have ovulated much later for some reason and now your cycle is off.

  • Possibly Endometriosis? I'm sure you will get more answers when your test results come in today. GL

  • No I'm not on birth control been useing condoms ... I've had my tyroid check a month ago everything looked good also I've never had any signs of endometriosis b4. I had an uti but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't cause me to skip a period! I'm very healthy 20 lbs heaver how ever it's baby weight.
