My five-year-old woke up with an earache last night. It seemed pretty bad, but she finally fell asleep next to me after having some Tylenol and a warm washcloth laid on her ear. I was all set to take her to the pediatrician first thing this morning, thinking she'd need antibiotics like she's had before, but she woke up just fine. She said her ear didn't hurt at all, and she barely remembered it hurting from last night. She has a well checkup on Friday, so I'll ask at that appointment, but has anybody ever seen this before? What could cause an earache that goes away overnight?
Maybe sinus drainage. At that age, their ear tubes/canals are straight & not curved, so anything draining can go straight to their ears. Glad she has the appt. And that she's feeling better today. :)
