Do you daydream?

I always have, I am constantly playing out scenarios in my head.

I will think "I should take the baby for a walk in the stroller"

Then five minutes after I imagine walking down the street and having a car hit us or a man come up to us with a gun and say he wants the stroller and running home with my baby in my arms or etc.

Then we don't go on the walk.

  • yep. its part of my anxiety disorder...i replay old scenarios working out differently and how future situations could go horribly wrong. it drives DH crazy so i usually keep them to myself. i have good ones too the one where i run away with The Doctor and he takes me to other planets & to see history...thats a very good one haha.

  • I get a bad case of "whatif" now and then.

    Whatif by Shel Silverstein

Last night, while I lay thinking here,
some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
and pranced and partied all night long
and sang their same old Whatif song:
    Whatif I'm dumb in school?
Whatif they've closed the swimming pool?
    Whatif I get beat up?
Whatif there's poison in my cup?
    Whatif I start to cry?
Whatif I get sick and die?
    Whatif I flunk that test?
Whatif green hair grows on my chest?
    Whatif nobody likes me?
Whatif a bolt of lightning strikes me?
    Whatif I don't grow taller?
Whatif my head starts getting smaller?
    Whatif the fish won't bite?
Whatif the wind tears up my kite?
    Whatif they start a war?
    Whatif my parents get divorced?
    Whatif the bus is late?
Whatif my teeth don't grow in straight?
    Whatif I tear my pants?
Whatif I never learn to dance?

  • Yes, I think like that too! I'm contemplating whether or not to take the truck to pick up my Son off the bus or just put the LO in the stroller & go. Then I think, it's too windy & what if a branch falls off a tree on us while we are walking. Guess I'll take the truck! I wonder if Men think like this, I bet not.

  • Ballad, I started to read that and I got anxious. No Joke! :/

I do this all the time and it prevents me from living life! So I started to push myself to do stuff because the what ifs don't ever happen when I actually do what I am afraid of!

Answer by CaliBlondeGirl at 3:27 PM on Mar. 6, 2013

  • I have done that, but I don't let it stop me from my plans. I feel like I have played it out in my head & I'm prepared & know how I would handle any given situation. I can understand in today's world being worried about the bad guys out there, but if we are aware of our surroundings, & prepared w/ an exit strategy, we should not have to live our lives in fear. If we do, THEY win. KWIM? So take that baby for a walk. If you feel it's necessary, then take some self-defense classes at the Y or something. But don't stay inside b/c of the 'what ifs"  *Hugs*
