Have you lost the ability to make links on chrome?

I've seen people post this for a while now, so thought I'd put this out there.  You can still make links on chrome, they just don't happen automatically like they used to.  You make them the same way you make them in a word.

Copy the link you want to add.  Either type some words like HERE IS THE LINK or simply paste the link into the Question like always.  Click use full editor (if you havne't already).  Highlight the link you pasted, or the words you typed, and click the link button - it's before the Check Spelling button, supposed to look like a chain link, but looks more like a paperclip.

Paste the link into the "link URL"  box on the pop up window and click Insert.

Chrome didn't break links, they just took out the code CM was using to make them auto-add instead of CM programming it directly.

  • Thank you NP! I was missing the part about highlighting the link or words. :)

  • Yes, and when I am on the laptop I will take the time to link a source into a question, but if I am on the iPad it takes too long and I've never been able to effectively do it.

Chrome didn't always work like that. Originally, you could paste a link into a question or answer and it would automatically make it a link. People who did it that way never knew the long way to do it.

  • I used to do it the easy way. It sucks that it's no longer automatic.

  • Chrome has completely bugged out on me earlier this week. I uninstalled and went back to Firefox.
