  • My kids are not ever with their grandparents. I would not trust them with my children.

  • My parents very rarely see my daughter or stepson. I would never leave them alone together. My boyfriend's parents are elderly and living in another state.

  • My mother and FIL almost never see my kids. My mom because she's a self centered bitch, my FIL because he's burned his bridges with us. Even when my mom was living tow doors down from us, the only time she'd come over was to borrow our car, her's being a POS that barely ran.

My dad and my MIL get to see them as often as they're in town or we're visiting. My family and I just spent 4 days with my MIL and we all had a LOT of fun together. My MIL is also a preschool teacher and has been for 30+ years. She is AWESOME with kids. Good thing too, she has 14 grandkids.

  • My mom and my in-laws help out with the kids on a regular basis. They are all great with them.

  • I asked my last question, because I wanted to hear what the answers would be! I have been taking care of all three grandchildren full time fifteen years now. I'm the lucky one, to have them in my life.....and my children know how lucky they are to have me, to care for their children.

  • Aflower, I think it's awesome that you care for your grandchildren full time, if that's what you enjoy. It breaks my heart that my parents have so little to do with my daughter especially, but it's their choice. My boyfriend's parents would love t see all of their grandchildren more, and it's sad that they are so far away.

  • I work from home, so I don't need anyone to watch my kids full time. But I do rely on my parents to babysit on those occasions when I do need to go somewhere without the kids. Unless they've already made other plans, they always say yes when I ask. My parents adore my kids, so they love to spend time with them.

  • This doesn't apply to me (I'm not a grandparent & my parents are no longer living, and my MIL has Alzheimer's disease) but I wanted to clarify that it sounds like you are talking about childcare....like a situation when mom/dad work & grandma takes care of the baby/toddler (instead of daycare.)
I know there are some grandparents here in Answers who have custody of grandchildren, but when you say "watching" them, are you talking about a childcare arrangement?
