This is Ridiculous....

I just got my electric bill which use to run around 250 last year maybe 300 for extreme cold months. But I got it today and it is 460. That is crazy. There is a fuel charge for like $70. I know that they haven't even been here to fix my electric for a long time so wondering what it is costing everywhere else.

  • Ours doubled last month. They said it was because of the snow and they couldn't read the meters. Yeah right. We have a long gravel driveway. If anyone drives up we hear them. I have never seen a meter reader in the 3 years we have been here. So much for me turning off the lights. Stringing less christmas bulbs, Buying wood instead of running the furnance all the time and switching to energy efficient lamps. I am angry too!

  • Ours is around 120 but we also live on the MS Gulf Coast so we don't have to use our heat to much. Ask me again in July when we have to blast our AC. LOL

  • That is a crazy amount. I would have them check out your meter.

Was it an estimate or actual reading?

  • ours this winter was about 300 a month for a rather small house. I live in Ohio

  • Well, that stinks. I live in Minnesota and it's been cold. I think we have great rates or else my house is really insulated well. I pay about $120-$150 on average during the cold months.

You need to get it check out!

And what's with the fuel surcharge when the price of gas has dropped down?

  • Holy cow- $460 for an electric bill. I choked on my $170 bill this month( which is about $90 if we use the wood stove and $130 if we don't).

  • In Houston, TX, ours was only $94 for last month, we have a really low rate, 0.12 right now, yearly contract is about to be up and will go up to 0.13.
