Keeping Strawberries

I don't know if it's a thing of being in the south but I find food doesn't last as long here as it did when I lived up north. WE're in Texas and it seems like 2 or 3 days after I buy the strawberries they go bad. Do any of you ladies have any tricks to help them last a bit longer???

  • Soak them in water with a cup of vinegar added, then dry them with a towel (I usually roll them back and forth a bit, then let them sit out on the towel for half an hour before putting them back in the container, also washed with vinegar.) The vinegar kills mold spores, and the vinegar smell goes away when they dry. I usually get a few extra days out of my strawberries this way.
