Trying to get the gasoline/oil smell out of my washer!

I have ran the washer at least 7 times with nothing, with detergent, with baby oil.

It STILL faintly smells. I don't know if it smells like gasoline or just oil anymore.

(SO was covered in gasoline, I soaked the clothes for a week then dried, then soaked in baby oil, then dried, then washed 3 times and they are now air drying)

Is it safe to wash my own damned clothes now? It's still FAINTLY SMELLS! I don't want MY clothes to smell like that and I DON'T want the dryer to catch fire if there are "gasoline vapors" in there. But seriously- the washer has been ran at LEAST 7 full times.

Jeebus. What do I do?

  • I have a front loader- I can't open it while it's filling with water- is baking soda and vinegar safe for an HE machine?

That was the problem with everything else too- all the info I found were for old drum washers and none were HE

I did this with the baby oil now I don't smell ANY gas, but the baby oil is scented so I just smell that.

  • I would NOT put anything you like in after the baby oil without doing something to dissolve the baby oil... that's why I say Dawn for a load!!
