Bad Dream not sure where to post this...

Over the last 2 weeks I have been having bad dreams, all of them involve fire or lava, Its really disturbing, So disturbing I find myself up at 4 am every day unable to go back to sleep in a panic checking on everyone in the house.

Does any one have any suggestions on how to calm down after these..

Why have they gotten worse?

I used to be able to pass them off and go back to sleep but for the last week they have gotten so bad.

  • Try some positive thinking before bed. If you catch yourself thinking or worrying that you are going to have the nightmare again, will yourself to thinking about something positive instead. It's difficult, but it's just like conditioning a muscle, you just have to work at it. If you wake from the nightmare and are panicky, try some breathing/muscle relaxation. Tensing muscles while you take a deep breathe in, and exhaling as you slowly release the tension in your muscles.

  • Lava - Deeply buried past experience that has pushed it's way to the surface; heated emotions and sexuality; sometimes physical illness, such as a fever.
Flames -Life itself- our life as it moves through experience, leaving only memories

Has anything or anyone from your past returned to your life? Perhaps you are angry over something that has recently occurred.

  • Could it be perimenopause? Is there something new in your house or neighborhood that smells like fire? Has it been warmer out and your body is finding the bedcovers too warm?

  • The only way to calm the dreams is to figure out what is causing them and deal with it. In the meantime, deep breathing exercises after they occur and reminding yourself it is only a dream to relax yourself. They are getting worse because you haven't dealt with the waking life cause yet.

  • Try and make it cooler in your house. I wake up from bad dreams cause im to hot and my dreams will be horrible. If it's cool in the house i don't ever really have bad dreams.

  • place a glass of ice on your bedside table
    just ice, no water
before going to sleep, relax as you look at the ice, imagine the coldness, feel the coldness take over your body, as it slowly melts, imagine your worries melting away
when you have one cold shiver, and you will
lay down and go to sleep

the glass of ice will counter act the hot lava
