I need a safe, good quality, convertible car seat?

My son is 8 months old and starting to outgrow his infant seat. I am looking for a good convertible car seat. There are so many out there!! What kind do you like/dislike?

  • We have a Britax Marathon. It has a higher weight limit both on rear-facing and forward-facing than some of the others on the market. It also has velcro to help hold the straps out of the way when putting a wiggling toddler in the seat. So far, I LOVE it and we've had it for over a year. I think, just about anything Britax makes is good and some are a little less pricey than a Marathon. I know people who have the Roundabout or the Decathalon and they like theirs just fine.

The best recommendation I can make is look at several, try them out (put your child in them) and keep in mind the weight restrictions for both forward- and rear-facing.

  • Britax is the best, hands down. If you are looking for cheaper Triumph by Evenflo is also a nice seat.

    40 pound forward-facing weight limit
    16 inch top slots

    Four sets of harness slots
    Three crotch strap positions
Probably won't be the last harnessed seat you’ll need due to lower top slots and lower weight limit
    $75-$80

    Evenflo Triumph Advance
    35 pound rear-facing weight limit
    50 pound forward-facing weight limit
    17 inch top slots
