Do you stick to tradition when making holiday meals?

Do you make the traditional holiday meals (ham/turkey etc.) every year or do you try new things each year?

  • A little of both. We have some things we stick to, such as a turkey at Thanksgiving and a ham at Christmas and Easter. We have mashed potatoes at each of those meals. But the rest of the sides vary depending on the holiday and our mood. We try to have (other than the mashed potatoes) completely different side dishes at Thanksgiving and Christmas, since they're so close together.

  • We have tried new things each year...but not because I'm anti-tradition, but because DD does not like anything. Does not like turkey. Does not like ham. Does not like chicken unless in nugget form. I liked for Holiday meals to be a great FAMILY dinner full of foods that we all like...honestly I have yet to of found something worthy of a Holiday meal that DD likes.

  • The only traditions we stick to is a turkey for Thanksgiving, and biscuits and gravy on Christmas morning. Every other holiday that has a big meal gets shaken up each year.

This Easter we're having corned beef.

  • No, we always go against tradition Lasagna for Thanksgiving, steak for Christmas Eve, brunch at a resort/casino on Christmas Day. No idea what we will do on Easter, since we don't celebrate.

  • The main dish (turkey/ham) is always the same, but I add different side dishes or desserts. There are some tings we can't go without like mashed taters, but instead of green bean casserole I might switch it up.

  • We sort of follow traditions, but they're a bit eclectic, given the family makeup. I was an adult before I ever had gravy instead of green chili on my stuffing, turkey, and mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving. Green chili rules!

  • That is a funny question because I can't answer.
We always have turkey at Thanksgiving though its preparation isn't necessarily the same. Side dishes ary as to my mood.
Christmas eve we always have deluxe 3 day chili.
Easter is generally lamb or ham but who knows how it will be done? It could be leg, or rack r shish ka bobs. One year we had indian goat. I got a lesson from a friend

I like all cuisines and I make up my own as well. so not we do not really have set meals.

  • We pretty much stick to tradition. Turkey for Thanksgiving, Ham for Easter. We don't really do Christmas dinner.
