In CA can my kids still get welfare even if I reached my 5 yr max?

when my son was small i had to use the system. i reached the 5 yr max during a couple rough patches. my oldest is now 16 and I am headed for divorce.

can my kids still get cash aid & FS & medi-cal even if I cannot?

please don't be harsh. I am devastated right now.

  • Not sure of CA but in VA, once someone uses their 60 months, they cannot get it again, even in another state.
But they can still get food stamps and Medicaid.

  • food stamps and medical yes. cash prob not. where i live you can only get it for 2 yrs, they make the dad pay the back pay and go after him for child support.

  • No, you used up their time limit as well. Hope they never need help when they're older. Sigh.

  • And not beng mean but are you working, attempting to find a job etc? You need to get alimony & child support. If you honestly feel you can't provide for them, why not let them stay with their dad until you get it together,Kwim?

  • "Welfare" in CA is CalWORKS, which is for adults. You and the kids will probably qualify for Medi-Cal, but not for CalWORKS.
