whats the geneal rule for eating with tummy bugs?

my daughter was sick on sunday twice... and since Monday it has been the other end and quite severe! she had a couple of oat cakes on sunday and then again on Monday as she was begging for food. Also been keeping up the fluids with tap water. So she has pretty much been starved for 48hrs! today she felt much better so introduced a bit more plain food, toast, plain jacket potato and a croisant.... the heavy Diohrrea has come back! Any advice would be much appreciated, she is 6 years old. I feel bad not giving her any food as it makes her so lethargic and she is asking for it. Thanks

  • Try toast, rice, or other bread type things to absorb some of her excess stomach acid. And push the fluids, especiallyif the diarrhea is bck.

  • Plain Yogurt, dry toast, bananas, rice, Oatmeal, or pedia sure. Lots of fluids. Your tap water can also irritate the bowel when coming out of an illness. It has chlorine and other chemicals in it that we become used to, but after and illness our systems tend to be weaker and less tolerant of these chemicals. If you can, boil then refridgerate the water or get baby bottled water (read the label for health facts). & Up or Gingerale is good to. Hope this helps and she feels better soon.
