  • It's illegal for an employer to deny her employment due to her service, so there must be a miscommunication somewhere on her end or yours.

  • There's something else going on that she hasn't told you.

  • i think your friend may be lying to you. i dont know about the employment, but as for college, they usually love Weekend Warriors. im in school with 2 National Guardsmen (both also served in Iraq & Afghanistan) who joke about how easy it was to get in.

  • The story isn't adding up. There must be something your friend is leaving out.

  • There are other reasons she is not getting hired, whether it is the lack of the necessary job skills or the lack of jobs in the areas she is wanting to get into.

  • Have you ever thought that maybe she just sucks at interviews?

  • Why do you care what she does?

  • You THINK you know what's going on, but clearly she's hiding something from you - or she's too obtuse to realize the real reason she's not getting into college or getting better jobs. Being in the military or reserves is NOT a reason not to hire someone - and if someone tried, that would be a big no-no, and a lawsuit.

It's more likely she doesn't have the grades for college, or can't afford it somehow, and that she doesn't have the skills she needs for the jobs she's applying for. Maybe she doesn't even realize it.

  • I call BS. Serving their country IS a damn good job. Did you know national guard have been the first to go over seas? Most of our national guards are gone.
